About Me

Welcome — I’m Olivia, Army spouse, a mother of five, a homeschooler, and a quiet observer of the small, sacred moments that make up an ordinary life.

Today I write from the middle of the Pacific Ocean, where our family lives in Hawaii as a military family while my husband serves in the Army. But the story that shaped me stretches far beyond these shores — across the wide currents of the Atlantic Ocean and the gentler tides of the Gulf of Mexico and even in the isolation of rural Louisiana. Each place carried its own lessons about family life, faith, and the quiet work of forming a home.

Our days unfold in a busy household where books pile on tables, children wander barefoot, and learning happens around the kitchen table as often as it does in lessons. My days are full of the hidden work of motherhood — tending hearts, guiding little souls, and trying to cultivate a home where peace, love, curiosity, and faith can grow.

For a long time, I believed this work was too small to write about. But the longer I mother, the more I see that the quiet things are the things that shape us most.

Here I write about the deeper layers of motherhood and home life — the formation of children, the spiritual work of raising a family, the pursuit of stillness in a noisy world, and the rhythms that help a home flourish.

You’ll find reflections on:

  • Mercy in the Landscapes — exploring faith and the spiritual lessons of life’s wide waters (The Oceans Sermon). Pause for a moment and let creation speak to your heart. A place to slow down and see again.

The Battle for Stillness — finding rhythm, order, and peace amid daily chaos (My Battle for Stillness). Discover the small rhythms that quietly bring peace to a home. A place to practice what matters most.

The Hidden Life — seeing the unseen work of motherhood and reflecting on its spiritual significance (Motherhood and Holy Obscurity). See the work that goes unseen, yet carries the deepest meaning. A place to honor the work that is hidden.

Healing Along the Way — learning to care for ourselves as we care for others (The Geography of Our Healing). Step into a story of care, growth, and the hidden paths of healing. A place to tend what is still healing.

These essays are not expert instructions or perfect systems, but honest observations from the middle of the work.

Because motherhood is not merely about managing a household.

It is about forming people.

And often, about being formed ourselves in the process.

This space is simply a place to share what I am learning along the way.
